I saw my vocal chords....

....it was amazing!!! Last week I went for a check up with a specialist. I knew there would be some kind of hideous camera device but I still wasn't prepared! They sprayed my throat to numb it, pulled out my tongue and held it (!) then put a rod down my throat with a camera on the end. Apparently I have very good gag reflexes. It didn't stop there either - I had to have one up my nose as well...all I can say is that it brought a tear to my eye! They made me hum and sing whilst all this was going on too. Anyway the upshot was, I got to see a part of myself I've never seen before - good news is they're healthy, but there is something quite special about seeing a part of yourself like that. Apart from the obvious relief that everything is ok, it's very weird but utterly fascinating to watch your vocal chords as they work...

seeing your own vocal chords at work sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity... but the camera & rods i can live without, ack !
i'm sure now that it's over you're relieved, especially leaving w/a clean bill of health... and that gives you something to sing about !

wow what an experience huh? I guess now you will feel different when you sing, you know what I mean?

Uh huh - the rod must have been about a foot long and half and inch wide - the other one was dead thin and bendy but ultra long - good for getting down all those winding nasal passages!

Nice to meet you too! The good thing is i can relax doing some of the harder vocal work now, knowing I'm not wrecking my voice. x

Hello - nice to meet you - thanks for adding me to your neighbourhood thingy. I'm quite new to Vox but it seems a useful place - especially for being able to upload audio etc.

Hi there - it's good to meet you too! We're relatively new too and still trying to get the hang of the whole blogging and Vox thing having been used to myspace for so long. Any tips are gratefully received!! x

I use Facebook, Myspace, Vox, Blogspot and Efx2blogs (the friendliest one but prone to occasional outages) to make friends and promote my music. I have an album out next week and people from all round the world have watched and listened to progress. Good luck with it all! Keep in touch.
